FaxTones

CNG tone

When the originating fax machine calls, it sends a calling terminal identification or CNG tone. As defined in the ITU-T T.30 recommendation, it is a 1100 hz signal. The cadence is half second ON and 3 seconds OFF, i.e., a half second 1100 pulse in every three seconds.

CED tone

When the terminating fax machine answers the call, it sends a called terminal identification or CED tone. As defined in the ITU-T T.30 recommendation, it is a continuous 2100 hz signal with a duration between 2.6 and 4 seconds. Synonym: ANS (Answer)tone.
