Grounding
To ensure long operational life to your system and your safety, the Stillink 3200 should be suitably grounded.
- A protective, independent ground should be connected to the system.
- The resistance of the ground should not exceed 0.5 ohm.
- The 85 - 264 VAC mains plus that connects to the system power supply unit should provide phase-ground and phase-neutral voltage difference no more that 5V.
- Any auxiliary equipment that is connected to the system (such as transmission equipment, network switches) should use the same ground of the system. Please check the documents of such auxiliary equipment before the installation.
Connecting the Protective and Independent Ground to the Stillink 3200
The protective ground terminal is located in the front cover of the SSS power supply module.
Before grounding:
- BE SURE THAT THE MAINS PLUG IS NOT ATTACHED TO THE SYSTEM.
- For 19-inch rack installations, check the availability of protective ground within the 19-inch rack.
- For non-rack installations, check the availability of protective ground near the Stillink 3200.
- Prepare a grounding cable ended with a suitable connector.
- Obtain a nut suitable (4mm) for attaching the grounding cable.
Then tighten the grounding cable to the protective ground terminal on the SSS power supply module. Measure the ground if its resistance does not exceed 0.5 ohm.
SSS Power Supply Module to Subrack Protective Ground and Power Connection
Before doing this connection, BE SURE THAT THE MAINS PLUG IS NOT ATTACHED TO THE SYSTEM.
Pass the power and ground cable of the SSS module through hole at the back of the subrack.
Then connect the power and ground cables to the relevant connectors at the back of the Stillink 3200 subrack.
Power Specifications
Input and output power specifications for the Stillink 3200 are:
Input:
- 85 - 264 VAC (0.75 Amp at 230 VAC, 1.7 Amp at 115 VAC)
- 47 - 63 Hz
Output:
Powering
Before attaching the 85 - 264 VAC mains plug to the SSS power supply module, be sure that:
- +5 VDC output switch is set to OFF (or 0) position.
- Protective and independent ground is connected to the Stillink 3200.
- Power and ground cables from the SSS module are attached to the relevant connectors at the back of the Stillink 3200 subrack.
- All boards and modules are tight in their locations. All screws are tightened.
- All unused slots are covered with empty cover plates.
While Installing Boards and Modules into the Available Slots
- Make sure to keep boards and modules in their electrostatically safe conductor bags when they are not installed in the system.
- Disconnect the 85 - 264 VAC mains plug and make sure the power supply LED on the SSS module and the backplane are not lit. Failure to do so might damage your cards and your backplane resulting in system failure.
- Before handling cards, make sure you are electrostatically discharged by wearing an electrostatic bracelet or touching a metal object such as a radiator or a tap.
- Obtain a nut screwdriver suitable for use.
