The SDT module includes:

• Powerful digital signal processors
• Rate adapters
• Address logic
• Ethernet interfaces
• Integrated DVR (Digital Voice Recorder)
• Some other service components

Each SDT module has four E1 interfaces, two ethernet interfaces, and two high speed digital signal processors. Each ethernet interface is capable of providing up to 60 concurrent VoIP calls. Consequently, full-span E1 VoIP access is accomplished. An SDT module is internally connected to the SGS module with two incoming and two, outgoing 8 Mbps links (that is eight 2048 PCM links). In other words, 256 64kbps channels, within the switching matrix, are reserved for each SDT module. Among these, 128 channels are used by four E1 interfaces. Remained 128 channels are used for VoIP access purposes.

The 2.048 Mbit E1 interfaces on the SDT module can connect to 120 ohm balanced terminations.

10/100 BaseT ethernet interfaces on the module provide numerous IP Telephony applications and system management solutions. Some of these are:

• Web based system management
• CMDR collection
• System alarm and warning messages collection
• Statistics data collection
• Voice (conversation) records collection
• H.323 protocol support with H.225.0 version 5, H.235 version 3 H.245 version 12, H.450, AES FIPS PUB 197. Connections between the system and H.323 entities.
• SIP Session Initiation Protocol support with RFC 3261. Connection between the system and SIP entities.
• xSIP (eXtended SIP). Connection between the system and xSIP terminals

In each Stillink 3200 system, at least one SDT module is a MUST. This is the main and mandatory SDT module.
